The Nanaimo Sports Hall of Fame was a great addition to Nanaimo and Vancouver Island Sports with many outstanding inductees. but for the sport of Amateur Boxing there is only one inductee. From 1921 to 2021, there have been many clubs, boxers and builders but they are not in the Nanaimo Sports Hall of Fame. Take pre. 1971, and there have been a number of Boxing clubs "Newcastle Boxing Club" of the Sixties which was founded by George Nepper. Some experienced boxing folks like Harry Pollitt, Skimp Williams and the Seriani brothers helping, In 1971 Brian Zelley and Dan Wright started the Nanaimo Boxing club which will begin year 51 in September 2021. There have been many builders and boxers in Nanaimo from '71 to '21 But for the NANAIMO SPORTS HALL OF FAME only one former coach has been recognized.
